Increased Cabin Comfort
When we looked at the cabin design of other four-seat airplanes, we decided there was room for improvement. And more room is what you get. The comfy ES interior is a spacious 46 inches across and 48 inches in height. Along with more shoulder and head space, passengers enjoy outstanding visibility through large windows and the wrap-around windshield. Space is also maximized in the ample baggage area, where you can carry all the gear you need for a lengthy trip. In short, it’s long on cargo space.

Frankly, there’s only one thing the ES is short on: noise. An inflatable door seal keeps the cabin shielded from whistling wind and engine noise. Also, a custom sound-proofing package, developed exclusively for Lancairs, is available to make the cabin even quieter. Passengers can sleep soundly or sit up and enjoy the view.

Fastest in the Air
Just because we offer more cabin space doesn’t mean we take a back seat in speed. On the contrary, you can cruise smoothly at 225 mph in the Super ES which features a 310-hp Continental 1O-550 engine. The ES can easily reach 200 mph with its 210-hp Continental 1O-360 engine. Our climb rate (up to 2000 fpm) and takeoff distance (600 ft.) earns Lancair high marks for power and performance. Plus, fuel consumption is 10-15% less than other similarly powered engines, thanks to the finely tuned induction system.

"The Fastbuild door option offers a completely finished door with all hinges, latches, gas strut, pneumatic door seal, lock and window installed. This option saves our builders over 200 hours."

Fuel System
With the Super ES at 55% power, fuel consumption is approximately 11 gph, which equates to 6 hours of flight with an hour reserve at 170 mph. Distance? In excess of 1,000 miles – with a maximum range of 1,450.

Fuel is carried in tanks, on the left and right, integrated within the wing bays. A standard supply of 95 gallons is offered. As a safety feature, each tank incorporates a "slosh bay" to prevent unporting of the fuel pickup during uncoordinated maneuvers. The fuel valve also returns vapor to the same fuel tank that is in use, which simplifies management.

Advanced Landing Gear
Fixed gear is the secure way to go for safety as well as easy assembly, low maintenance and optimal utilization. Our gear systems are rugged and long-lasting. The main gear legs are tubular 4340 steel, gun-drilled, honed, tapered, heat-treated and plated for rust protection. The Cleveland 600 x 6 wheels come standard with heavy-duty breaks. The nose gear features a custom-built premium air/oleo strut for maximum dampening. The result? Landings are trouble free and enviably smooth. The differential braking system allows for tight turns and the rudder provides ground steering at speeds as low as 20 mph.

Materials
You can’t beat a Lancair airframe – literally. Our tested, epoxy based composites are among the strongest, stiffest, lightest materials known. These supreme composites permit compound aerodynamic shaping without drag-producing rivets, bumps and lap joints. The components are cured under vacuum pressure at 270&Mac176;F and represent true, state-of-the-art technology for today’s general aviation aircraft.

Corrosion resistant and virtually non-flammable, our advanced airframes extend the lifetime utilization of your aircraft. It’s also true they will easily outlive any aluminum airframe when properly maintained. The use of premium materials does more than enhance your flight experience – it also increases the longevity and value of your investment.

Fastbuild Kit and Preassembly
You’ll be happy to learn that the hard work has already been done for you. Which means you’ll be assembling your family for a flight faster than you think.

Lancair airframe system components are pre-built, ready for assembly. There’s no welding, no machining, no contour forming (and no knuckle-scraping). Our Fastbuild kits include premolded surfaces using our premium, high-temperature epoxy-based prepregs.

Most of the major assemblies come complete, including the wing with ribs, spar and hardpoints for control surfaces installed. The main gear is attached to the fuselage and the firewall and engine mount are installed with the nose gear attached. Plus, the tail surfaces come with equal amounts of completion, even the rudder hardware is installed.

With the Fastbuild "A" kit option, virtually all of the inner wing and horizontal tail structure is installed for you. With our Fastbuild "B" kit option, major fuselage subassemblies are preinstalled, including firewall, engine mount supports, bulkheads, landing gear and tail alignment saddles.
